INVESTIGATION OF THE PERFORMANCE INDEX OF 3.5KVA/48V POWER INVERTER

Power Inverter

ABSTRACT

The initial cost of the power inverter system is significant higher compared to the conventional source of power. As a result, there is need for the performance evaluation of various power inverteri in order to determine the cost efficiency of the power inverteri as an alternative source of power. The aim of the present study is to investigate the performance index of 3.5KVA/48V inverters for domestic source of electric power supply. Four types of inverteri (Mercury, Safer Power, Sinergy and Su-Kam) commonly available in the market were considered. And three performance indices (resistive load test, inductive load test and output waveform) were used to determine the cost effectiveness of one inverter over the other. Results showed that the Sinergy Power Inverteri has the best performance. In terms of the battery discharge current, Sinergy is 35% (for the resistive) and 61% (for inductive test) more efficient compared to Mercury at an output load of 1 kW.

The Sukam 3.5kva/48v Fusion Series inverter & commercial UPS offers a sizable capacity for power backup. This Su-Kam inverter capacity can support most appliances in the home or office, excluding only the heavy power users like air conditioners and deep freezers. While the manufacturer, Su-Kam,
actually lists the 3.5kva/48V Fusion Series as capable of supporting a small air conditioning unit, we would rather you leave out your air conditioner or freezer from your load for this capacity. That will help achieve better power backup performance for your setup.
