SMART HEALTH CONSULTING PROJECT

ABSTRACT

Here we propose an android application that allows users to get instant guidance on their health issues through an intelligent health care application online. The application is fed with various symptoms and the disease/illness associated with those systems. The application allows user to share their symptoms and issues. It then processes user’s symptoms to check for various illness that could be associated with it. The application also has a doctor login, where the uploaded images are sent to respective doctor along with patient contact details. Through recording and quality management of  by the patient will provide valuable information to the medical specialists. On the other hand the doctor can monitor the short-term and longterm course of the disease, develop a complete treatment procedure and assess in detail the performance of a specific medication.

                          CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION

  • INTRODUCTION

The advent of computer and internet has made it possible for millions to access proper medical services and are administer correct treatment procedures. Today, several algorithm, models and technologies are put in place to ensure accurate and precise diagnosis on patient which in turns has reduce the rate of mortality in the country and world at large.

In a citizen-centred health system, it is very important to have simultaneous access to different kind of health-related data such as patient’s health record, accounting and logistic data. The Smart Health Consulting System takes a step towards making this real by integrating health related data of registered users all at one website, at the same time protecting it by having login credentials for registered users. During the last few years the research and development on wearable smart systems for health monitoring has been accelerated through consequent public and private financial support. This technology and the resources of the Internet will finally allow us to move away from the concept of the personal computer-owned and used by a single person and customized to his or her specific needs-to the personalisable computer-a generic and ubiquitous tool that can be quickly configured to match individual requirements. This system aims at maintaining patient health records and even getting appointments from various doctors for related treatments. The system user must register as a member of this system and keep updating his medical history. Patients can then select from a list of specialized doctors for respective treatments such as (skin specialist, ENT specialist cardiologist etc) at particular locations. Patients may also select suitable appointment timings for their meeting. We are going to follow iterative and incremental model concerning the uncertainty associated with app development, following continuous customer feedback to successively refine and deliver a software system.

1.2 MOTIVATION

It might have happened so many times that you or someone yours need doctors help immediately, but they are not available due to some reason. And it becomes more difficult for patients to find doctors in their city with certain specialization, whose background would fit best for the situation of the patient. Organizing a unified portal for patients and doctors could serve a great deal of convenience.

 1.3 OBJECTIVES

The main objective of this this research work was to develop a smart health consulting system. The smart health consulting system was intended to help patients access professional medical services and monitor and manage their condition at the comfort of their homes. The specific objectives include:

  1. Designing and developing an integrated smart consulting system using android application with a common interface to be used by both patients and medical specialist.
  2. Deploying the android application to remote patients to help them interact with remote medical specialists, by inputting and transmitting vital  data through their hand-set devices from the comfort of their homes and presenting the vital parameters to the prescribed doctor’s mobile devices.

1.4 RESEARCHJUSTIFICATION

This research work will provide a reliable way of handling patient by medical institutions in Nigeria. This research work which will be deployed online will be readily available to everyone not able to access a professional consultant or health practitioners. Furthermore, it will aids structural document representation of drugs and symptoms for all disease cover in this system. This research will also contribute to existing literature in this area and will serve as a guild or blueprint for an undergraduate student.

1.5 CHAPTERLAYOUT

This section was put in place to explain what each chapter does, chapter one introduces the project to the reader by explaining the problems the project is supposed to solve, objective of the study and research justification is to describe to the reader the purpose and the importance of researching on this topic.

Chapter two deals with the literature review and state-of-the-art.This chapter discusses literature review, what people have published related to this research work and their shortcoming, how this present research can improve their shortcomings.

Chapter three deals with the system design methodology i.e. collection of tools methods and practices for achieving a task; the requirement specification states the expectation of the system analysis, and design which is the blueprint of what the system would carry out.

Chapter four has to do with the implementation, system testing strategies, target computer system requirement, software maintenance etc.

Chapter five discusses the recommendations and conclusion part of the research work and how this work can be applied to the problem domain
