END OF THE COLD WAR ON AFRICA: A CASE (DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO)

Abstract:

The study affirms the reality of the negative impact of Bipolarity or Cold War (1945-1989) and its end (1989-Date) on the African continent. This is done using Zaire (The Democratic Republic of Congo) as case study. The research is unique as it looks at the impact of the end of Bipolarity from a political perspective, yet considering economic and social issues as well. The research also affirms that African issues and problems of polities, economic as well as social problems are likely to take a further back seal at the global level in the years after the Cold War. In the course of the research, a wide range of literature which cut across Geo-political and ideological boundaries are examined. This is done so as to aid the presentation of a detailed study and, to avoid bias as much as possible. A detailed analysis is carried out, based on which recommendations are made at the end of the work.
