Abstract The persistent cling to traditional learning methods has slowed the rate at which contemporary technological learning methods like augmented reality technology are accepted and implemented in education. This is also owing to teachers seeking for what is already proven rather than devoting themselves to be a part of the proof. Augmented Reality is one technology that is poised to profoundly transform education as we know it. This reality dramatically shifts the location and timing of education and training as it provides access to a great range of information and knowledge that can be acquired in real time which if properly adopted and applied at the right time and place would increase learning efficiency in many fields of knowledge. The capacity to overlay rich media onto the real world for viewing through web-enabled devices such as phones and tablet devices means that information can be made available to students at the exact time and place of need. This has the potential to reduce cognitive overload as well as enable learning in a range of other ways. This research aims to portray the growing possibilities that abound in augmented reality by examining its use in relevant fields of studies and also highlighting how it can be adopted in the venture of actor training by questioning how it can be helpful in the education of actors and its potential impact in actor training.
