THE EFFECTS OF DIGITAL COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY ON SPACE PERCEPTION, PERSONALIZATION, AND USE

Abstract

This study aims to examine how people behave in interior settings and how digital devices may affect their behaviors. The study of human behavior in interior settings is not a recent one. Irwin Altman and Edward T. Hall, among other human behavior researchers, claim that people tend to behave in specific ways while they are inside. Territoriality, privacy, crowding, personal space, and space personalization have been identified as these behaviors. People engage in these behaviors in order to control how they connect with others and how they exercise control over what they perceive to be their property. The modern phenomenon of digital technology has impacted almost every facet of human life.
