ABSTRACT

The research community is paying a lot of attention to the energy efficiency of buildings as the globe moves toward sustainable building design. Measures or methods to increase a building’s energy performance and efficiency are known as energy-efficient approaches. The Envelope Thermal Transfer Value (ETTV) and Green applications (Living wall, Green facade, and Green roof) are the most significant and efficient solutions, according to this study’s examination of numerous energy-saving measures for commercial buildings. These energy-efficient methods were thoroughly investigated. It has been discovered that there is no ETTV model for Australia’s subtropical climate. Furthermore, roof heat gain is not taken into account by the ETTV equations that have been created for other nations. Additionally, there is no relationship between ETTV and various Green applications. The energy efficiency of commercial buildings with living walls, green facades, and green roofs in Australia’s subtropical climate has not been thoroughly studied in any literature. The investigation was carried out in two stages. The study first creates a new formula, coefficient, and benchmark value for ETTV when external shading devices are present. The integrated heat gain model of ETTV in the revised formulation now accounts for roof heat gain. The study’s association between the thermal and energy performance of (a) living walls and ETTV is presented in the study’s second stage. Experimental values from comprehensive studies of living walls and green roofs support the estimations.
