Incidence of Uropathogenic Candida Strains in Urinary Tract Infections

ABSTRACT

This study investigates the frequency of uropathogenic Candida strains in urinary tract infections (UTIs). UTIs are primarily associated with bacterial pathogens; however, emerging evidence suggests an increasing involvement of Candida species. Urine samples from patients presenting with UTI symptoms were collected and subjected to microbiological analysis. Candida isolates were identified and further characterized for their virulence factors and antifungal susceptibility patterns. Results indicate a notable incidence of uropathogenic Candida strains, underscoring the relevance of fungal agents in UTIs. This study emphasizes the need for comprehensive diagnostic approaches and tailored treatment strategies to address both bacterial and fungal contributors to UTIs.
