ASSESSING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MUSCULAR STRENGTH AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AMONG NIGERIAN STUDENTS.

Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the potential relationship between muscular strength and academic performance among Nigerian students. While previous research has primarily focused on the association between physical activity and cognitive function, limited studies have explored the specific role of muscular strength in academic achievement. Understanding this relationship is crucial, as it can inform educational policies and interventions that promote holistic development in students.

The study will employ a quantitative research design, utilizing a representative sample of Nigerian students across different educational levels. Muscular strength will be assessed through standardized tests such as handgrip strength and one-repetition maximum tests. Academic performance will be measured using students’ grade point averages or other reliable indicators of scholastic achievement.

Multiple variables, including age, gender, socioeconomic status, physical activity levels, and lifestyle factors, will be considered as potential confounding factors in the analysis. Statistical analyses, such as correlation coefficients and regression models, will be employed to examine the strength and significance of the relationship between muscular strength and academic performance.

The findings from this study will contribute to the growing body of literature on the association between physical fitness and academic outcomes. If a positive relationship is found between muscular strength and academic performance, it would provide evidence to support the integration of physical fitness programs into the educational curriculum as a means to enhance academic achievement among Nigerian students. Additionally, the results may guide the development of targeted interventions that promote physical activity and muscular strength among students, ultimately improving their overall well-being and educational outcomes.

By shedding light on the relationship between muscular strength and academic performance, this study aims to provide valuable insights into the multifaceted nature of student development in Nigeria. The results will have implications for educational policymakers, school administrators, and health professionals, highlighting the importance of a comprehensive approach to education that encompasses physical fitness alongside academic pursuits.
