ANALYSIS OF MAGNETO HEMODYNAMICS OF BLOOD IN A STENOSED ARTERY

Abstract:
Cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis and arterial stenosis, are leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Understanding the hemodynamic characteristics of blood flow in stenosed arteries is crucial for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of these conditions. This study aims to investigate the impact of magnetic fields on the hemodynamics of blood flow in a stenosed artery, using computational modeling and analysis.

In this research, a mathematical model based on the Navier-Stokes equations and the magnetic induction equation is developed to simulate blood flow in a stenosed artery. The stenosis is modeled as a localized constriction in the arterial geometry, leading to altered flow patterns and changes in hemodynamic parameters such as velocity, pressure, and wall shear stress. The presence of an externally applied magnetic field is incorporated into the model to examine the influence of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) on blood flow behavior.

Numerical simulations are performed using appropriate boundary conditions and material properties to obtain detailed information about the flow patterns and hemodynamic parameters. The impact of various factors, such as the degree of stenosis, magnetic field strength, and blood rheology, on the flow characteristics is systematically investigated. Quantitative metrics such as flow rate, pressure drop, and wall shear stress are computed and analyzed to assess the severity of stenosis and potential therapeutic interventions.

The results of this study provide valuable insights into the complex interplay between hemodynamics, magnetic fields, and stenosed arteries. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms and may have implications for the design of novel diagnostic techniques and therapeutic interventions. Additionally, the computational modeling approach employed in this research serves as a platform for further investigations and optimization of treatment strategies for cardiovascular diseases.
