Abstract:
This research aims to examine the educational cost and return associated with pursuing Master's and Doctoral programs in universities located in Anambra State, Nigeria. The study recognizes the importance of advanced degrees in enhancing career prospects and income potential, but also acknowledges the financial implications and investments required to pursue such programs.

The research utilizes a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques. A survey questionnaire is administered to a sample of Master's and Doctoral students currently enrolled in universities in Anambra State. The questionnaire collects data on various aspects, including tuition fees, living expenses, and funding sources. Additionally, semi-structured interviews are conducted with a subset of participants to gain further insights into their experiences, motivations, and perceived returns on investment.

The study aims to address several key research questions, including:

  1. What are the educational costs associated with pursuing Master's and Doctoral programs in universities in Anambra State?
  2. How do students finance their education, and what are the main sources of funding?
  3. What are the career prospects and income potential for graduates of Master's and Doctoral programs?
  4. What are the perceived benefits and returns on investment from pursuing advanced degrees?

The findings of this research will contribute to the existing literature on educational costs and returns in Nigeria, specifically in the context of Anambra State. The study will provide valuable insights for prospective students, policymakers, and universities to make informed decisions regarding the pursuit of advanced degrees. Additionally, it will shed light on the financial challenges faced by students and the potential benefits they can expect to derive from their investments in higher education.

The research findings will be disseminated through academic publications, conferences, and presentations to ensure broad accessibility and relevance. It is hoped that the outcomes of this study will contribute to evidence-based policies and practices that can enhance the accessibility, affordability, and quality of Master's and Doctoral programs in Anambra State, ultimately leading to improved educational opportunities and economic development in the region.
