Assessing Pedagogical Competence Performance of Pre-Service Business Educators in North East, Nigeria
Abstract:
This research study aims to assess the pedagogical competence performance of pre-service business educators in the North East region of Nigeria. Pedagogical competence refers to the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by educators to effectively facilitate learning and promote student achievement. Understanding the level of pedagogical competence among pre-service business educators is crucial for enhancing the quality of business education in the region.
The study will employ a mixed-methods research design, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches to gather comprehensive data. A questionnaire survey will be administered to pre-service business educators enrolled in teacher education programs across universities and colleges in the North East region. The questionnaire will assess various dimensions of pedagogical competence, including content knowledge, instructional strategies, classroom management, student assessment, and technology integration.
Additionally, in-depth interviews and classroom observations will be conducted with a subset of participants to gain deeper insights into their pedagogical practices, challenges faced, and the effectiveness of their instructional approaches. The qualitative data will provide a rich understanding of the contextual factors influencing pedagogical competence performance.
The findings of this study will contribute to the existing literature on pre-service teacher education and pedagogical competence assessment. The results will shed light on the strengths and weaknesses of pre-service business educators in the North East region, identify areas for improvement in their training programs, and inform policy recommendations for enhancing the quality of business education in the region.
By identifying specific areas of pedagogical competence that require attention, teacher education institutions can develop targeted interventions and professional development programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of pre-service business educators. Ultimately, this research aims to improve the overall quality of business education in the North East region of Nigeria, leading to better learning outcomes for students and increased economic development in the area.
