Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on various sectors, including the education system. This study aims to investigate the stakeholders' perception of the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the activities of private senior secondary schools in Ilorin Metropolis. It explores the challenges faced by private senior secondary schools, the adaptations made to mitigate the impact of the pandemic, and the stakeholders' overall perception of the situation.
The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Data collection involves surveys, interviews, and document analysis. The target population consists of school administrators, teachers, students, parents, and government education officials in Ilorin Metropolis.
Through survey questionnaires, the study examines the perceptions of stakeholders regarding the challenges faced by private senior secondary schools during the COVID-19 pandemic. These challenges may include disruptions to academic schedules, difficulties in implementing remote learning, financial constraints, and reduced student enrollment.
Semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders provide an in-depth understanding of the adaptations and strategies employed by private senior secondary schools to address the challenges posed by the pandemic. These adaptations may include the use of online learning platforms, blended learning approaches, enhanced health and safety measures, and collaboration with local authorities.
Furthermore, document analysis of official reports, government guidelines, and school policies offers insights into the broader context and measures implemented by educational authorities.
The study's findings will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the education sector, specifically on private senior secondary schools in Ilorin Metropolis.
