PERCEPTION OF HISTORY TEACHERS ON THE USE OF ICT FACILITIES FOR TEACHING HISTORY IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ILORIN, NIGERIA
Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the perception of history teachers on the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities for teaching history in secondary schools in Ilorin, Nigeria. The integration of ICT in education has gained significant attention worldwide, and its potential to enhance teaching and learning experiences is widely recognized. However, the extent to which history teachers in Ilorin embrace and utilize ICT facilities in their instructional practices remains unclear.
The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. A sample of history teachers from various secondary schools in Ilorin will be selected using a purposive sampling technique. The quantitative data will be collected through a structured questionnaire, while the qualitative data will be gathered through semi-structured interviews.
The findings of this study will provide insights into the perception of history teachers regarding the use of ICT facilities for teaching history. It will explore their attitudes, beliefs, and experiences regarding the integration of ICT in history classrooms. The study will also identify the barriers and challenges faced by history teachers in utilizing ICT facilities effectively.
The results of this study are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the integration of ICT in history education. The findings will inform educational policymakers, curriculum developers, and school administrators about the current state of ICT integration in history classrooms in Ilorin. Additionally, the study will provide recommendations and strategies to enhance the effective use of ICT facilities for teaching history, addressing the identified challenges and barriers.
In conclusion, this research will shed light on the perception of history teachers on the use of ICT facilities for teaching history in secondary schools in Ilorin, Nigeria.
