INNOVATIVE ENTREPRENEURIAL COMPETENCIES NEEDED BY TEACHERS OF CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION AT TERTIARY LEVEL FOR SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC RECOVERY
Abstract:
The construction industry plays a vital role in the economic growth and development of a nation. In the aftermath of a global economic crisis, such as the one experienced in recent years, the recovery and sustainability of the economy heavily rely on the competence and adaptability of professionals within the construction sector. In particular, teachers of construction technology education at the tertiary level have a significant responsibility to equip students with innovative entrepreneurial competencies that can drive sustainable economic recovery.
This study aims to identify and explore the innovative entrepreneurial competencies required by teachers of construction technology education to foster sustainable economic recovery. The research will employ a qualitative research methodology, including interviews and surveys, to gather data from experienced teachers in the field of construction technology education.
The findings of this study will contribute to the existing literature by identifying the specific competencies that teachers need to possess in order to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the construction industry in the context of sustainable economic recovery. The identified competencies may include but are not limited to: 1) understanding and leveraging emerging construction technologies; 2) promoting sustainable and green construction practices; 3) developing creative problem-solving skills; 4) cultivating a mindset of innovation and adaptability; 5) fostering entrepreneurial thinking and business acumen.
The practical implications of this study suggest the need for professional development programs and training initiatives for teachers of construction technology education to enhance their entrepreneurial competencies. By equipping teachers with these competencies, educational institutions can better prepare students to become successful entrepreneurs and leaders in the construction industry, thus contributing to sustainable economic recovery.
In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of innovative entrepreneurial competencies possessed by teachers of construction technology education at the tertiary level. By empowering teachers with these competencies, educational institutions can play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the construction industry and fostering sustainable economic recovery.
