THE UTILIZATION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN BUSINESS EDUCATION PROGRAMME OF PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES IN SOUTH WEST NIGERIA

ABSTRACT 

This research project aims to investigate the utilization of new technologies in the business education program of public universities in South West Nigeria. The integration of new technologies in education has the potential to enhance teaching and learning experiences, improve student engagement, and prepare students for the digitalized business environment. Understanding the current state of technology integration in business education programs is crucial for identifying opportunities and challenges in leveraging technology for effective learning outcomes.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, combining surveys, interviews, and quantitative analysis of data to collect information from business education faculty members, students, administrators, and relevant stakeholders in public universities in the South West region of Nigeria. The research objectives include assessing the current utilization of new technologies in business education, exploring faculty members’ perspectives and practices regarding technology integration, examining students’ experiences and perceptions of technology use, identifying barriers and challenges to technology adoption, and suggesting strategies for enhancing the utilization of new technologies in business education.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the utilization of new technologies in the business education program of public universities in South West Nigeria. The research will assess the current utilization of new technologies, considering factors such as the availability of technological infrastructure, access to digital resources, and the integration of technology into the curriculum. It will explore faculty members’ perspectives and practices regarding technology integration, examining their attitudes, competencies, training needs, and pedagogical approaches related to technology use. The study will also examine students’ experiences and perceptions of technology use, including their access to technology, digital literacy skills, engagement with technology-enhanced learning activities, and perceived benefits and challenges of technology integration. Additionally, the research will identify barriers and challenges to technology adoption in business education, such as limited resources, inadequate infrastructure, resistance to change, and digital divide issues. It will suggest strategies for enhancing the utilization of new technologies, including faculty development programs, infrastructure investments, curriculum revisions, and student support initiatives.
