Abstract:
This abstract provides an overview of the global requirements of business education skills acquisition and its impact on the work performance of students in the North East Zone of Nigeria. Business education plays a crucial role in equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the modern global economy. Given the dynamic nature of the business landscape, it is essential to understand the skills that students need to acquire to enhance their work performance and contribute effectively to economic growth.

This study aims to identify the global requirements of business education skills and examine their significance in the context of the North East Zone of Nigeria. The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative research techniques. The qualitative phase will involve interviews and focus group discussions with students, educators, and industry professionals to gather in-depth insights into the specific skills needed for successful work performance.

The quantitative phase will utilize surveys to collect data from a representative sample of students in the North East Zone. The survey will assess students’ perceived proficiency in various business education skills and their perceptions of the relevance of these skills to their work performance. Statistical analysis techniques, such as regression analysis, will be employed to explore the relationships between skill acquisition, work performance, and other relevant factors.

The findings of this study will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on business education in Nigeria, specifically focusing on the North East Zone. Moreover, the research will provide valuable insights into the global requirements of business education skills that are essential for students’ work performance in a rapidly changing business environment.

The implications of this study are twofold. Firstly, it will inform educational policymakers and curriculum developers about the specific skills that need to be emphasized within the business education curriculum to enhance students’ work readiness. Secondly, the outcomes will guide educational institutions and instructors in designing and implementing effective teaching methodologies and strategies to cultivate these skills among students.

It is anticipated that the results of this study will promote the alignment between business education and industry demands, foster students’ employability, and contribute to economic development in the North East Zone of Nigeria. By equipping students with globally relevant business education skills, this research seeks to empower them to become competitive professionals capable of addressing the challenges and opportunities of the modern business world.
