UTILISATION OF DIGITAL SKILLS FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING OF BUSINESS EDUCATION IN PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES IN THE SOUTH-SOUTH, NIGERIA

Abstract:
This abstract examines the utilization of digital skills for teaching and learning of business education in public universities in the South-South region of Nigeria. With the rapid advancement of technology, digital skills have become crucial in enhancing teaching and learning experiences across various disciplines, including business education. This study aims to assess the extent to which digital skills are integrated into the curriculum and instructional practices in public universities in the South-South region of Nigeria, specifically within the domain of business education.

The research methodology employed for this study is a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. Data will be gathered through surveys, interviews, and document analysis. The target population comprises faculty members and students from business education departments in selected public universities in the South-South region.

The findings of this study will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the current utilization of digital skills for teaching and learning in business education in public universities. It will identify the types of digital skills employed by faculty members and the challenges they face in integrating digital tools into their instructional practices. Additionally, the study will explore students’ perspectives on the utilization of digital skills and their impact on their learning outcomes.

The study is expected to reveal the current state of digital skill integration in business education, highlighting best practices and areas for improvement. The findings will inform policymakers, curriculum developers, and educational institutions on the need to enhance digital skills development for both faculty members and students. Recommendations will be provided to promote effective integration of digital tools and skills into the teaching and learning processes, ultimately improving the quality of business education in public universities in the South-South region of Nigeria.
