EFFECT OF TPS-SIMULATOR ON STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN AUTOMOTIVE LIGHTNING AND SIGNALING SYSTEM IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS OF NORTH-EAST NIGERIA
Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the effect of a TPS-Simulator (Traffic and Pedestrian Signal-Simulator) on students' academic achievement in the field of Automotive Lighting and Signaling System in tertiary institutions of North-East Nigeria. The research focuses on assessing the impact of integrating a simulated learning environment into the traditional teaching methods for this specific subject.
The study employs a mixed-methods research design, combining quantitative measures of academic achievement and qualitative data from students' perceptions and experiences. A sample of students enrolled in automotive engineering programs in tertiary institutions within the North-East region of Nigeria will be selected using a purposive sampling technique. The participants will be divided into two groups: an experimental group that will receive instruction through the TPS-Simulator and a control group that will receive traditional classroom teaching.
The quantitative data will be collected through pre and post-tests to assess students' academic achievement in the specific subject matter. Additionally, qualitative data will be gathered through interviews and surveys to explore students' perceptions of the TPS-Simulator and its impact on their learning experience.
The findings of this study will provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of the TPS-Simulator as an instructional tool for enhancing students' academic achievement in the field of Automotive Lighting and Signaling System. It is anticipated that the integration of a simulated learning environment will positively influence students' understanding, engagement, and retention of the subject matter.
The results of this study will have implications for curriculum development, pedagogical practices, and educational policies in the field of automotive engineering education in North-East Nigeria. Furthermore, it will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the application of simulators in technical education, particularly in the context of developing regions.
