AN EVALUATION OF THE PERFORMANCE OF KADUNA STATE TRANSPORT AUTHORITY KADUNA

ABSTRACT

The Kaduna State Transport Authority (KSTA) was established to ease the problems of transportation in the state and the country at large. In view of that, the government voted a huge sum of money in order to achieve this noble objective. This has stimulated the researcher to evaluate the performance, by carefully looking at the following variables; the input of the government, how the input is being utilized and the output, then finally the feelings of the public to the output. “Poor condition of service in Kaduna State Transport Authority does not lead to low performance”. Secondly, “the poor performance in Kaduna State Transport Authority is a result of the quality of the management”. The researcher applied the questionnaire method in the collection of the data, chi-square and percentages as the methods of quantifying the data collected. The research revealed that poor condition of service is responsible for the low performance thou, there are other factors that are responsible for the low performance such as corruption, bad employment policy, unqualified workers. Such as Drivers and Mechanic. The researcher recommends that the government should employ the right persons especially Engineers, Drivers and Mechanics, since the finding revealed that those employed.
