DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A DOCTOR PATIENT TRACKING APPLICATION

ABSTRACT

In today’s world where ICT is fast-growing, the demands of customers and the strain on doctors especially with the unfortunate pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus, it is important we have systems in place to assist the doctors as developing nations are confronted with a lot of issues. As a doctor, your first priority is caring for your patient and the build-up of everyday tasks like paperwork, scheduling and billing can get in the way of that or lead to a little bit of frustration. This project centres around fostering a framework that can help both patients and doctors communicate to one another via their mobile phones. The main goal of this project was to design and develop a doctor patient tracker that would reduce the need for physical interactions between the doctor and the patient thereby reducing the spread of the corona virus and other infections alike while avoiding anything that will reduce the quality of the patient care. The software development model used was the waterfall model and the research strategy was design and creation. The design and implementation of the doctor patient tracker is presented, a veritable stepping stone.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

                1.1     Overview

The proposed framework targets giving the best health related services at fingertips by giving access to the patients a wide range of doctors and their specialization, to enable the patient pick a specialized doctor based on his or her needs. This proposed framework can have a huge effect on the doctor’s lives and even on the lives of the patients as it addresses an answer for the best and basic of things and that is wellbeing related issues in a helpful and much simpler way. It permits the clients of the application entries to choose the best specialists and it assists them with review of the profile of the Doctors on the web. There are a lot of services in the present framework which are unique and user friendly. The proposed system is completely based on Technology as it has the web-based application along with Android and IOS application. The users can get benefit with this amazing services anytime and anywhere. The present framework builds up the relationship between Patients and Doctors as it gives complete attention to doctors individually and not to hospitals as it promotes one-to one care. It does so by allowing both the doctors and patients to sign up or sign in, from then onward the patient can search and choose the doctor he wants, make payment and then would be al-lowed to chat with the doctor

The Proposed framework is the associating point for patients and their favored Doctors by enabling the patients to think about the Doctors by their counsel charge, their experience, their profile, their specialization, Consequently, this proposed framework is not just best for the doctor it is also best for the patient who might want to get the best treatment from the best and fulfilled Doctors at their own helpful time. This can change the therapeutic business guidelines and can have the colossal effect on the current framework.

                1.2     Background and Motivation

The goal of any system development is to develop and implement the system cost effectively; user-friendly and most suited to the user’s analysis is the heart of the process. Time Health describes the use of portable electronic devices with software applications to provide health services and manage patient information. With approximately 5 billion mobile phone users globally, opportunities for mobile technologies to play a formal role in health services, particularly in low- and middleincome countries, are increasingly being recognized (Källander et al., 2013).

The term doctor comes from the Latin word for “teacher” which comes from “docēre” which means “to teach”. Usage of the English word “doctor” starts in the early 14th century and was used to address select few theologians who had a special seal of approval from the Roman Catholic Church as people who could talk about and explain the doctrines of Church, were equipped to dealing with matters of the soul. Towards the end of the 14th century came the Renaissance which is a period marking the transition from the middle ages to modernity, lots of teaching and learning came about here and by the end of this century the word doctor was no longer just used on few theologians, but was also used for medical practitioners accomplished academics. The

Renaissance is called “the rebirth of the science of medicine”

Many doctors today, all over the world especially in developing nations, are at risk of covid infections because of lots of patient going in and out of hospitals, in a bid to reduce the strain of the patients on the doctors and in a means to reduce the spread of the highly infectious virus it is important to look for other means whereby a patient can consult a doctor without having to be there physically. These digital advancements in this methodology can reduce costs, improve patient and doctor’s safety and increase the pace of the manual method thereby making the doctor a lot more proficient.

                1.3     Statement of the Problem

People, as we all know, are too preoccupied with their daily lives to go all the way to the hospital only to chat with a doctor or schedule an appointment every time they have a problem. It is more difficult for patients who reside far from the hospital to go to the hospital only to arrange an appointment. It is because, if the patients are employees, they must take time out of their workday to travel to the clinic and schedule an appointment. Their time will be affected by the time it takes to get from the office to the hospital. It can sometimes make the pressure, stress, and fatigue from the move worse. Aside from time constraints, patients must also spend money to visit the clinic.

For the doctors they are quite a high number of persons who come by the office everyday due to several reasons, this increases the workload on him and also increases the chance of him getting an infection from one of his patients or him spreading an infection to one of his patients.

                1.4     Aim and Objectives

The aim of this project is to design and implement an application that would enable the doctors to actively track patients. The aims and objectives are as follows.

  • To design and develop a computerized doctor patient tracker.
  • To conduct Application Functionality Test and User Acceptance Test on the developed product.
  • To implement the design system.
  • To resolve Contact issue by bringing about a way for both doctors and patients to communicate.
  • To provide comfort to patients and doctors
  • To provide safety from infections to both patients and doctors

                1.5     Significance of the Project

This task's completion may benefit emergency rooms, specialists, patients, pharmacists, and the medical community as a whole. For a better client experience, we use this framework. This framework is quite simple to understand. Additionally, for the purpose of establishing continuous communication while utilizing current and updated technology. This framework will function with a variety of client devices, including computers, tablets, and smart mobile phones. As a result, the client can access the framework at any time and from any location. This framework is really basic and simple to comprehend, thus any client can use it without difficulty.

                1.6     Project Risks Assessment

Table 1.1 Project Risks Assessment

RISK PREVENTION
1. Lack of financial or economic support. Find a brand-new economic support.
2. Unavailability of educational resources. Source for more academic resources.
3. Loss of work due because of failure/loss of gadget. Backing up data to OneDrive or a flash drive daily.
4. Software availability (Unavailability of

API’s)

Alternate API’s will be checked for. Identify software requirement in good time for possible contentious software
5. Lack of constant power supply Invest in a UPS for your desktop or an extra battery pack for your laptop.

6. Malware, phishing assaults, hacking, and spam email are just a few of the security hazards to be aware of. Saves information in the database created in the android phone.
7. Unstable internet connection Change ISP or location of work.
