ABSTRACT

This case study illustrates a comprehensive initiative that was developed and put into action to help students with learning difficulties in Nigeria make a smooth transition from school to the workforce. This research uses a multifaceted strategy, including surveys, interviews, skills tests, and program evaluations, in recognition of the significance of providing students with the tools and resources required for post-school success. Students with learning difficulties, educators, vocational trainers, employers, and community stakeholders are all included in the study. the effectiveness of tailored transition programs in enhancing the readiness and employability of students with learning disabilities. The project integrates a range of strategies, including individualized career planning, vocational skills training, job placement support, and mentorship opportunities. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of fostering partnerships between schools, vocational training centers, and local businesses to create inclusive employment opportunities. the project also uncovers challenges in the transition process, including limited resources for specialized training and accommodations, as well as the need for increased awareness and advocacy for inclusive employment practices. Cultural perspectives and societal attitudes towards disability and work may influence the acceptance and integration of students with learning disabilities into the workforce within the Nigerian context. this case study carry significant implications for inclusive education and workforce development policy and practice in Nigeria. Recommendations are provided for the continued refinement and expansion of transition programs, emphasizing increased investment in vocational training, ongoing professional development for educators and vocational trainers, and community engagement efforts to promote inclusive employment practices. This research contributes to the broader discourse on inclusive education and the empowerment of individuals with learning disabilities. By showcasing the effectiveness of transition strategies within the Nigerian context, this study advocates for the widespread adoption and integration of evidence-based practices to enhance the post-school outcomes of students with learning disabilities. The insights gleaned from this case study can serve as a foundation for further research and inform best practices in transition planning and support for individuals with learning disabilities, not only in Nigeria but also in diverse global contexts.
