ABSTRACT

The critical part that parents play in encouraging the inclusion of kids with disabilities in Nigerian schools is examined in this case study. As a result of using a mixed-methods approach that combines surveys, interviews, and document analysis, this research acknowledges the importance of cooperation between parents, educators, and schools. In addition to educators and administrators from various educational settings in Nigeria, the study focuses on a varied sample of families with children who have disabilities. the transformative impact of active parental involvement on the inclusive education experience. Engaged parents, equipped with knowledge and support, play a vital role in advocating for their children’s rights, ensuring appropriate accommodations, and facilitating a conducive learning environment. The study identifies specific forms of involvement, such as attending Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, providing home support, and participating in school activities, which contribute to improved outcomes for students with disabilities. the research also reveals challenges faced by parents in their efforts to support the inclusion of their children. These challenges include limited access to resources and information, communication barriers with educators, and socio-cultural factors influencing parental attitudes towards disability and education. this case study carry significant implications for inclusive education policy and practice in Nigeria. Recommendations are provided for fostering meaningful parental involvement, including targeted outreach and training programs, improved communication channels between schools and parents, and community engagement initiatives to promote understanding and support for inclusive education. This research contributes to the broader discourse on inclusive education and the empowerment of students with disabilities. By highlighting the critical role of parental involvement within the Nigerian context, this study advocates for the widespread adoption and integration of collaborative practices to create inclusive learning environments. The insights gained from this case study can serve as a foundation for further research and inform best practices in supporting the inclusion of students with disabilities not only in Nigeria but also in diverse global educational contexts.
