The Characterization of Staphylococcus aureus Isolates Recovered from Door Handles in the College of Basic and Applied Sciences

ABSTRACT

This study investigates the characterization of Staphylococcus aureus isolates obtained from door handles within the College of Basic and Applied Sciences. Utilizing a combination of microbiological and molecular techniques, we examined the phenotypic and genotypic properties of the recovered isolates. Our findings reveal a diverse range of Staphylococcus aureus strains, each exhibiting distinct genetic markers. Additionally, antibiotic susceptibility profiles were determined to evaluate potential public health implications. The study underscores the importance of routine environmental monitoring in educational institutions and emphasizes the necessity of implementing effective hygiene measures to mitigate the spread of pathogens. This research contributes to our understanding of microbial ecology in high-traffic environments and aids in the development of targeted strategies for infection control and prevention
