Abstract:
The Gulf of Guinea is a region of significant importance for deepwater petroleum exploration and production. This abstract presents a comparative analysis of the petroleum fiscal systems employed in the Gulf of Guinea countries and their impact on the performance of deepwater petroleum activities.

The exploration and production of petroleum resources in deepwater environments require substantial investments due to the technical challenges involved. Petroleum fiscal systems play a crucial role in attracting investments, optimizing resource extraction, and ensuring a fair distribution of revenues between the government and petroleum companies.

This study examines the petroleum fiscal systems of key Gulf of Guinea countries, including Nigeria, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, and Ghana. It explores the elements of these fiscal systems, such as tax structures, royalty rates, production sharing agreements, and fiscal stability provisions.
