This abstract provides a comprehensive review of the current status of chemical pathology markers utilized in the diagnosis of liver diseases.

The liver plays a crucial role in metabolism, detoxification, and synthesis of essential proteins. When afflicted by various pathological conditions such as viral hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), or drug-induced hepatotoxicity, the liver’s functionality is compromised, leading to the release of specific biochemical markers into the bloodstream.

Biochemical markers commonly employed in the diagnosis of liver diseases include liver enzymes, such as alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT).
