Abstract:
In today's highly competitive and fast-paced society, adolescents' success aspirations play a crucial role in shaping their future outcomes and well-being. This study aims to investigate the causal relationship between self-beliefs and automatic thoughts in adolescents' success aspirations. Self-beliefs refer to individuals' perceptions and evaluations of their own abilities, while automatic thoughts are rapid, unconscious cognitive processes that influence individuals' interpretations and reactions to various situations. Understanding the interplay between self-beliefs and automatic thoughts can provide insights into the psychological factors that contribute to adolescents' success aspirations.

The study will adopt a quantitative research design, utilizing a sample of adolescents aged 14 to 18 years. Participants' self-beliefs will be measured using standardized self-efficacy and self-esteem scales, assessing their confidence in their abilities and overall self-worth, respectively. Automatic thoughts will be assessed using a validated questionnaire, capturing the frequency and content of automatic thoughts related to success aspiration. The study will employ a longitudinal design to establish temporal precedence and infer causality.

Data analysis will involve statistical techniques such as correlation analysis and regression analysis to examine the relationship between self-beliefs and automatic thoughts. Mediation analyses will also be conducted to explore whether automatic thoughts mediate the relationship between self-beliefs and success aspirations. Additionally, potential moderating factors, such as gender and socioeconomic status, will be considered to determine their influence on the hypothesized causal relationship.

The findings from this study will contribute to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence on the causal relationship between self-beliefs, automatic thoughts, and adolescents' success aspirations. The results may help inform interventions and strategies aimed at fostering positive self-beliefs and reducing maladaptive automatic thoughts in adolescents, ultimately enhancing their success aspirations and overall well-being. Furthermore, the study may have implications for educational institutions, parents, and mental health professionals involved in supporting adolescents' personal and academic development.

Keywords: self-beliefs, automatic thoughts, success aspirations, adolescents, causal relationship, quantitative research.
