Teenage pregnancy and early marriage are significant social issues with profound implications for the psychosocial well-being of pregnant teenagers. This abstract highlights the impact of teenage pregnancy and early marriage on the psychosocial well-being of pregnant teenagers in Lagos State, Nigeria, and explores the sociological implications of these phenomena.
The psychosocial well-being of pregnant teenagers encompasses their emotional, psychological, and social functioning. Teenage pregnancy and early marriage often lead to adverse psychosocial outcomes due to the associated challenges and stressors that young mothers face. These challenges include limited educational opportunities, financial instability, social stigma, and compromised mental health.
The sociological implications of teenage pregnancy and early marriage are multifaceted. First, the interruption of education due to pregnancy and early marriage limits the educational attainment of teenage mothers, perpetuating a cycle of poverty and reduced social mobility.
