Abstract:
This study investigates the relationship between emotional openness and attitudes towards self-disclosure during counseling among junior secondary school students in Anaocha Local Government Area. The aim of the study is to explore how emotional openness influences students' willingness to disclose personal information during counseling sessions.

The study employs a quantitative research design and a sample of junior secondary school students from Anaocha Local Government Area is selected using a stratified random sampling technique. The participants are administered a questionnaire that includes measures of emotional openness and attitudes towards self-disclosure. Data analysis techniques, such as correlation and regression analysis, are used to examine the relationship between emotional openness and attitudes towards self-disclosure.

The findings of the study will provide insights into the factors that influence students' willingness to disclose personal information during counseling sessions. It is hypothesized that higher levels of emotional openness will be positively associated with more favorable attitudes towards self-disclosure. The study also aims to identify any potential gender differences in emotional openness and attitudes towards self-disclosure.

The implications of the study are significant for the field of counseling, particularly in understanding how emotional openness can contribute to effective counseling interventions with junior secondary school students. By identifying the factors that facilitate self-disclosure, counselors can tailor their approaches to create a safe and supportive environment for students to express their emotions and concerns.
