Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the influence of students' and teachers' attitudes on adolescents' study habits in secondary schools within Educational District II of Lagos State. The study recognizes the crucial role of study habits in shaping academic performance and overall educational outcomes among adolescents.

The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing study habits. A sample of secondary school students and teachers from various schools within Educational District II will be selected using stratified random sampling techniques.

The quantitative phase involves administering questionnaires to measure students' study habits and attitudes towards studying, as well as teachers' attitudes towards teaching and supporting students' learning. The data will be analyzed using statistical methods, including correlation and regression analysis, to determine the relationships between students' and teachers' attitudes and adolescents' study habits.

The qualitative phase involves conducting semi-structured interviews with a subset of participants to gain deeper insights into the underlying factors influencing study habits. The interviews will explore students' perceptions of their own study habits, the impact of teachers' attitudes on their motivation and engagement, and the role of peer influence in shaping study habits.

The findings of this study will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the relationship between attitudes, study habits, and academic performance among adolescents. The results are expected to provide valuable insights for educational policymakers, school administrators, and teachers in designing interventions and strategies to improve study habits and enhance learning outcomes in secondary schools.

It is anticipated that the study will reveal the significance of positive attitudes towards studying among both students and teachers in fostering effective study habits among adolescents. Furthermore, the research will shed light on the specific factors that contribute to the development of productive study habits, including the role of teacher-student interactions, classroom environment, and peer relationships.

Overall, this study aims to highlight the importance of cultivating a supportive educational environment that fosters positive attitudes towards studying and encourages the adoption of effective study habits among adolescents in secondary schools. By understanding the influential factors, educators can implement evidence-based interventions to optimize students' learning experiences and academic success.
