Abstract:
This study investigates the impact of instructional media on the academic performance of students in Basic Science and Technology in Education District I of Lagos State. The effective use of instructional media has become increasingly important in modern educational settings, as it offers unique opportunities to enhance teaching and learning experiences. The study aims to explore the extent to which instructional media influences students' academic performance and identify the specific media tools that have the greatest impact.

A mixed-methods approach will be employed, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative research methods. The quantitative phase will involve collecting academic performance data from a sample of students through standardized tests, while the qualitative phase will consist of interviews and focus group discussions with teachers and students to gain insights into their experiences with instructional media.

The study will be conducted in Education District I of Lagos State, which comprises several schools offering Basic Science and Technology subjects. A purposive sampling technique will be used to select schools and participants, ensuring representation from diverse backgrounds. Data will be analyzed using statistical techniques such as correlation analysis and thematic analysis to identify patterns and relationships between instructional media usage and academic performance.

The findings of this study will have significant implications for educational policymakers, teachers, and curriculum developers. By identifying the impact of instructional media on academic performance, recommendations can be made to enhance the integration of media tools into the teaching and learning process. This research will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on instructional media and provide insights into effective strategies for improving students' academic achievements in Basic Science and Technology.

The limitations of this study include the focus on a specific education district and subject area, which may limit the generalizability of the findings. Additionally, the study's reliance on self-reported data from interviews and surveys may introduce response biases. Nevertheless, the study's comprehensive and mixed-methods approach will provide a detailed understanding of the impact of instructional media on student academic performance in Basic Science and Technology.
