Abstract:
Food safety is a critical concern in the fast-food industry, as improper handling and preparation of food can lead to foodborne illnesses. This study aims to investigate the perception of Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) students regarding food safety among food handlers in fast food restaurants in Zaria.

The study will employ a qualitative research design, utilizing interviews and focus group discussions to gather data from PGDE students in Zaria. The participants will be selected through purposive sampling, ensuring representation from different PGDE programs and backgrounds. The interviews and focus group discussions will explore the students' perceptions of food safety practices, knowledge of foodborne illnesses, and their concerns regarding food handling in fast food restaurants.

The findings of this study will provide insights into the perception of PGDE students on food safety among food handlers in fast food restaurants in Zaria. By understanding the students' perspectives, this research can contribute to the development of educational interventions and training programs aimed at improving food safety practices among food handlers.

The study's results can be used to inform policy development and regulatory measures in the fast-food industry, with the ultimate goal of enhancing food safety standards and reducing the incidence of foodborne illnesses. Additionally, the findings can be utilized by fast food restaurant owners and managers to identify areas for improvement in food handling practices and training programs.

Overall, this research will contribute to the existing literature on food safety and education by exploring the perceptions of PGDE students, who play a vital role in shaping the future of the education sector. By addressing their concerns and providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills, this study aims to contribute to a safer food handling environment in fast food restaurants in Zaria.
