Abstract:
This study examines the relationship between principals' organizational management and teachers' efficiency in public basic schools within the Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State. The effectiveness of school leadership and management practices on teacher performance is a critical aspect of educational development.
The study adopts a quantitative research design, utilizing a survey questionnaire to collect data from principals and teachers in selected public basic schools. The sample size consists of a representative selection of principals and teachers from various schools in Ilorin West Local Government Area. Statistical analysis techniques, including correlation and regression analysis, are employed to analyze the collected data.
The findings of the study reveal a positive correlation between principals' organizational management practices and teachers' efficiency. Principals who exhibit strong organizational management skills are more likely to create conducive work environments, provide necessary resources, establish effective communication channels, and implement supportive policies and procedures. These factors contribute to increased teacher motivation, job satisfaction, and overall efficiency in the teaching-learning process.
Furthermore, the study identifies specific dimensions of organizational management that significantly impact teachers' efficiency, such as instructional leadership, decision-making, teamwork, and professional development opportunities. Effective instructional leadership entails setting clear goals, providing guidance, and monitoring instructional practices. Principals who involve teachers in decision-making processes and foster a collaborative work environment tend to enhance teachers' sense of ownership and commitment to their roles. Additionally, access to relevant professional development opportunities equips teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to improve their instructional practices.
The implications of this study highlight the importance of principals' role in promoting teachers' efficiency and overall school effectiveness. School administrators should prioritize the development of strong organizational management skills, which can positively influence teachers' performance and student outcomes. By investing in professional development programs for principals, educational policymakers can ensure that school leaders are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to create conducive work environments and support teachers' professional growth.
In conclusion, this study emphasizes the crucial role of principals' organizational management practices in fostering teachers' efficiency within public basic schools in Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State. The findings provide valuable insights for educational stakeholders to enhance school leadership practices, improve teacher performance, and ultimately contribute to the overall quality of education.
