ABSTRACT

This research project aims to examine the global requirements of business education skills acquisition and their impact on students’ work performance in the North West Zone of Nigeria. The study seeks to identify the essential skills demanded by the global business environment, explore the extent to which students acquire these skills through their business education programs, and assess the relationship between skill acquisition and work performance.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, incorporating surveys, interviews, and observations. The research objectives include identifying the global requirements of business education skills for work performance, evaluating the extent to which students acquire these skills in their business education programs, examining the relationship between skill acquisition and work performance, and proposing strategies to enhance the alignment between business education and global skill demands.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the global requirements of business education skills and their impact on students’ work performance in the North West Zone of Nigeria. The research will identify the essential skills demanded by the global business environment, which may include critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, adaptability, technological literacy, and cultural competence. Additionally, the research will assess the extent to which students acquire these skills through their business education programs, examining factors such as curriculum design, teaching methods, and assessment practices. Furthermore, the research will explore the relationship between skill acquisition and work performance, considering indicators such as job performance, employability, career advancement, and satisfaction. The research will also propose strategies to enhance the alignment between business education and global skill demands, such as curriculum revision, industry collaborations, experiential learning opportunities, and professional development for educators.

The implications of this research extend to educational institutions, policymakers, educators, and students. The findings will inform educational institutions and policymakers about the global requirements of business education skills, enabling them to align curriculum and instructional practices to meet these demands. Educators can utilize the research findings to enhance their teaching strategies, ensuring that students acquire the necessary skills for success in the global business environment.
