Abstract:
This study investigates the relationship between teachers' classroom arrangement and students' discipline in secondary schools in Anambra State. Classroom arrangement plays a significant role in creating an environment conducive to learning and promoting positive student behavior. The study aims to examine how various aspects of classroom arrangement, such as seating arrangement, physical layout, and organization, influence students' discipline.

A mixed-methods research design was employed, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. A sample of secondary school teachers and students from different schools in Anambra State was selected using a stratified random sampling technique. The data collected included teachers' perceptions of their classroom arrangement strategies and students' discipline levels as assessed by teachers and students themselves.

Preliminary findings indicate a strong correlation between teachers' classroom arrangement and students' discipline. An organized physical layout, such as clearly designated spaces for different activities, was associated with improved student discipline. Additionally, a flexible seating arrangement that promotes student interaction and engagement was found to positively impact student behavior.

The qualitative analysis of interviews revealed that teachers who employed structured seating arrangements, such as grouped desks or individual workstations, reported better classroom management and reduced disciplinary issues. Furthermore, teachers who incorporated visual aids, instructional materials, and student-centered displays into their classrooms observed enhanced student focus and decreased disruptive behavior.

These findings suggest that teachers' classroom arrangement strategies can significantly influence students' discipline in secondary schools in Anambra State. By creating an environment that fosters engagement, interaction, and organization, teachers can promote positive student behavior and minimize disciplinary problems. The study concludes with recommendations for educators and policymakers to consider adopting effective classroom arrangement practices to enhance student discipline in secondary schools.
