ABSTRACT

This research project aims to assess the quality of human and material resources available for the effective teaching of business studies at upper basic education in private secondary schools in Benue State Central Senatorial Zone, Nigeria. The availability and adequacy of human and material resources play a crucial role in ensuring effective teaching and learning experiences. This study seeks to evaluate the quality of human resources, including teachers’ qualifications and experience, as well as the availability and adequacy of material resources, such as textbooks, instructional materials, and technology infrastructure. The research aims to identify strengths and weaknesses in the provision of resources and propose recommendations for enhancing the quality of resources in private secondary schools.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, utilizing surveys, interviews, and document analysis to collect data from teachers, school administrators, and relevant stakeholders in private secondary schools in Benue State Central Senatorial Zone. The research objectives include assessing the qualifications and experience of business studies teachers, evaluating the availability and adequacy of material resources, identifying strengths and weaknesses in resource provision, and proposing recommendations for enhancing the quality of resources.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the quality of human and material resources available for the effective teaching of business studies. The research will assess the qualifications and experience of business studies teachers, considering factors such as educational background, subject specialization, pedagogical training, and years of teaching experience. Additionally, the study will evaluate the availability and adequacy of material resources, including textbooks, reference materials, laboratory equipment, computers, and internet connectivity. Furthermore, the research will identify strengths and weaknesses in resource provision, such as gaps in teacher qualifications, limited access to instructional materials, outdated technology infrastructure, and challenges in resource management. Based on the findings, recommendations will be proposed for enhancing the quality of resources, including teacher professional development programs, curriculum review, resource allocation strategies, and partnerships with stakeholders.

The implications of this research extend to teachers, school administrators, policymakers, and educational stakeholders. The findings will provide teachers and school administrators with insights into the quality of resources available for the effective teaching of business studies, guiding their efforts to improve resource provision and instructional practices. Policymakers can utilize the research findings to inform policies and initiatives that support the enhancement of human and material resources in private secondary schools. Educational stakeholders, such as curriculum developers and publishers, can benefit from the research findings by gaining an understanding of the specific resource needs and challenges in the teaching of business studies, enabling them to develop relevant materials and support initiatives.

In conclusion, this research project assesses the quality of human and material resources available for the effective teaching of business studies at upper basic education in private secondary schools in Benue State Central Senatorial Zone, Nigeria.
