Abstract:
This research study aims to explore and analyze the perception and attitude of students towards ICT (Information and Communication Technology) education in Colleges of Education in Anambra State. The integration of ICT in education has become increasingly important in contemporary classrooms, as it offers new possibilities for teaching and learning. Understanding students' perceptions and attitudes towards ICT education is crucial for effective implementation and utilization of ICT tools and resources.
The study adopts a mixed-methods research design, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. A sample of students from various Colleges of Education in Anambra State is selected using a stratified random sampling technique. Data is collected through surveys and interviews to assess students' perception of ICT education, their attitudes towards ICT tools and resources, and the factors influencing their perceptions and attitudes.
The quantitative data is analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, providing insights into students' overall perception and attitude towards ICT education. The qualitative data is analyzed thematically to identify common themes, patterns, and variations in students' experiences and perspectives.
Preliminary findings indicate that the majority of students possess a positive perception of ICT education, recognizing its potential to enhance teaching and learning processes. Students also exhibit a favorable attitude towards ICT tools and resources, acknowledging their usefulness in accessing information, improving academic performance, and increasing engagement. However, the study also reveals several challenges hindering the effective integration of ICT in education, such as inadequate infrastructure, limited access to ICT resources, and inadequate training for both students and teachers.
The results of this study will provide valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and ICT stakeholders in Colleges of Education in Anambra State. The findings can inform the development of strategies to address the identified challenges, promote positive attitudes towards ICT education, and enhance the integration of ICT tools and resources in teaching and learning processes. Additionally, the study contributes to the existing body of knowledge on students' perception and attitude towards ICT education, particularly within the context of Colleges of Education in Anambra State.
