AN INVESTIGATION INTO INTERNET USAGE IN TEACHING AMONG BUSINESS STUDIES TEACHERS IN JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN KADUNA EDUCATION ZONE

ABSTRACT

This research project aims to investigate the usage of the internet in teaching among business studies teachers in junior secondary schools in the Kaduna Education Zone, Nigeria. The internet has become an increasingly important tool in education, providing access to vast amounts of information, resources, and interactive learning opportunities. This study seeks to explore the extent to which business studies teachers in junior secondary schools utilize the internet in their teaching practices, identify the perceived benefits and challenges associated with internet usage, and propose strategies for effective integration.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, combining surveys, interviews, and classroom observations to gather data from business studies teachers in junior secondary schools in the Kaduna Education Zone. The research objectives include assessing the current usage of the internet in teaching, exploring the perceived benefits of internet usage, identifying the challenges faced by teachers, and recommending strategies for effective integration.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the usage of the internet in teaching among business studies teachers in junior secondary schools in the Kaduna Education Zone. The research will assess the extent to which teachers incorporate the internet into their instructional practices, such as using online resources, interactive multimedia, virtual simulations, and collaborative platforms. It will explore the perceived benefits of internet usage, including increased access to information, enhanced student engagement, and opportunities for personalized learning. Additionally, the study will identify the challenges faced by teachers, such as limited internet connectivity, lack of technical skills, and availability of appropriate digital resources. Based on the findings, the research will provide recommendations for effective integration, including teacher training initiatives, infrastructure improvements, and curriculum development.

The implications of this research extend to educators, policymakers, and stakeholders involved in business studies education in the Kaduna Education Zone. The findings will provide educators with valuable insights into the current usage, benefits, and challenges of integrating the internet in teaching business studies. Educators can use the research recommendations to enhance their instructional practices and leverage the internet effectively in fostering student learning. Policymakers can utilize the research findings to develop policies and initiatives that promote internet connectivity, digital literacy, and the integration of online resources in junior secondary schools. Additionally, stakeholders can support infrastructure development, provide training programs, and facilitate access to quality digital resources for business studies teachers.
