LEVEL OF UTILIZATION OF TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES IN BUSINESS OPERATIONS BY ENTREPRENEURS IN CROSS RIVER STATE
ABSTRACT
This research project aims to assess the level of utilization of Total Quality Management (TQM) principles in business operations by entrepreneurs in Oyo State. TQM is a comprehensive approach to improving the quality and efficiency of business processes, products, and services. This study seeks to evaluate the extent to which entrepreneurs in Oyo State incorporate TQM principles into their business operations and explore the factors influencing their adoption and implementation.
A mixed-methods research design will be employed, utilizing surveys, interviews, and observation to collect data from entrepreneurs operating businesses in Oyo State. The research objectives include identifying the key TQM principles applicable to business operations, assessing the level of utilization of these principles, examining the challenges and benefits associated with their adoption, and exploring the factors influencing entrepreneurs’ decision to implement TQM.
The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the level of utilization of TQM principles in business operations by entrepreneurs in Oyo State. The research will identify the specific TQM principles considered essential in business operations, such as customer focus, continuous improvement, employee involvement, process management, and data-driven decision-making. It will assess the level of utilization of these principles among entrepreneurs, providing an understanding of their current practices. Furthermore, the study will explore the challenges and benefits associated with the adoption of TQM principles, including factors such as resource constraints, resistance to change, and improved customer satisfaction and business performance. Additionally, the research will investigate the factors influencing entrepreneurs’ decision to implement TQM, such as awareness, knowledge, perceived benefits, and external pressures.
The implications of this research extend to entrepreneurs, business support organizations, policymakers, and the academic community. The findings will provide entrepreneurs with insights into the importance and benefits of incorporating TQM principles into their business operations, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding quality improvement initiatives. Business support organizations can utilize the research findings to develop training programs and provide guidance to entrepreneurs on how to effectively implement TQM principles in their operations.
