TEACHERS’ WORK ATTITUDE AS CORRELATE OF STUDENTS’ DEVELOPMENT OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLS IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN IMO STATE

Abstract:
This study investigates the relationship between teachers' work attitude and students' development of entrepreneurship skills in public secondary schools in Imo State. The aim is to explore the extent to which teachers' work attitude influences the acquisition and development of entrepreneurship skills among students.

The study adopts a correlational research design, utilizing a sample of teachers and students from selected public secondary schools in Imo State. A structured questionnaire is used to collect data on teachers' work attitude, while students' entrepreneurship skills are assessed using a standardized measurement tool. Statistical techniques such as correlation analysis and regression analysis are employed to analyze the data.

The findings of the study provide valuable insights into the relationship between teachers' work attitude and students' development of entrepreneurship skills. Positive work attitudes among teachers, such as enthusiasm, motivation, and dedication, are expected to foster an environment conducive to the cultivation of entrepreneurship skills among students. Conversely, negative work attitudes, such as lack of enthusiasm or disengagement, may hinder students' entrepreneurial development.

The results of this study have implications for educational policymakers, school administrators, and teachers. By understanding the significance of teachers' work attitude in fostering entrepreneurship skills, stakeholders can design targeted interventions and professional development programs to enhance teachers' attitudes towards their work. Moreover, the findings can guide the implementation of educational policies aimed at promoting entrepreneurship education in public secondary schools.

It is anticipated that this research will contribute to the existing literature on entrepreneurship education and provide empirical evidence to support the importance of teachers' work attitude in students' development of entrepreneurship skills. Ultimately, the study aims to inform educational practices and policies that foster an entrepreneurial mindset among secondary school students in Imo State, thereby preparing them for future economic challenges and opportunities.
