ASSESSMENT OF TRAINING LEVEL AND ACCESS TO ICT FACILITIES ON ICT COMPETENCY OF BUSINESS EDUCATION LECTURERS IN COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN NORTH EAST NIGERIA

Abstract:
This study aims to assess the training level and access to information and communication technology (ICT) facilities among business education lecturers in colleges of education in the North East region of Nigeria. The integration of ICT in educational institutions has become increasingly important in enhancing teaching and learning processes. However, the effectiveness of ICT integration depends on the competency and proficiency of educators in utilizing these technologies.

The study employs a descriptive survey research design to gather data from a representative sample of business education lecturers in colleges of education in the North East region. A structured questionnaire will be used to collect data on the training level of lecturers in ICT, their access to ICT facilities, and their perceived competency in utilizing ICT tools for teaching and learning.

The findings of this study will provide valuable insights into the current state of ICT competency among business education lecturers in the North East region. It will identify the gaps in their training and access to ICT facilities, which can hinder effective integration of ICT in their instructional practices. Furthermore, the study will shed light on the specific areas of ICT competency that require improvement, enabling policymakers and educational institutions to develop targeted training programs to enhance the skills of business education lecturers.

The research outcomes will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on ICT integration in education, particularly within the Nigerian context. The study's recommendations can guide the formulation of policies and strategies aimed at improving ICT competency among business education lecturers, thereby enhancing the quality of education in colleges of education in the North East region of Nigeria.
