Assessment of Vice-Chancellors’ Role Performance in Management of Students’ Welfare Services in Universities of North-East Zone, Nigeria

Abstract:
This abstract provides a summary of a study that examines the role performance of Vice-Chancellors in the management of students' welfare services in universities located in the North-East Zone of Nigeria. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of Vice-Chancellors in providing and overseeing welfare services that contribute to the overall well-being and academic success of students.

The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. A survey questionnaire is administered to students to gather quantitative data on their perceptions of the Vice-Chancellors' role performance in managing student welfare services. Additionally, interviews and focus group discussions are conducted with key stakeholders, including Vice-Chancellors, university staff, and student representatives, to obtain qualitative insights into the challenges, successes, and potential areas for improvement in the management of these services.

The study focuses on universities in the North-East Zone of Nigeria, considering the unique socio-cultural, economic, and geographical context of the region. It explores various dimensions of student welfare services, including accommodation, healthcare, counseling, financial aid, and recreational facilities, among others.

The findings of the study are expected to shed light on the strengths and weaknesses of the current approaches employed by Vice-Chancellors in managing student welfare services.
