PROGNOSIS OF PROJECT-BASED INSTRUCTIONAL PACKAGE ON PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN ECONOMICS IN EBONYI STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the potential impact of a project-based instructional package on the academic achievement of public secondary school students in Economics in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. The study seeks to explore whether the implementation of project-based learning methods can enhance students' understanding and performance in the subject.

The research will adopt a quasi-experimental design, utilizing both pre-test and post-test measures to assess students' academic achievement. A sample of secondary school students from Ebonyi State will be selected using a purposive sampling technique. The experimental group will receive instruction through a project-based instructional package, while the control group will receive traditional lecture-based instruction.

Data will be collected using a standardized Economics achievement test, designed to measure students' knowledge and understanding of key economic concepts. The test scores will be analyzed using appropriate statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics, t-tests, and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA).

The expected outcomes of this study include insights into the effectiveness of project-based learning in improving students' academic achievement in Economics. It is anticipated that students who receive instruction through project-based methods will demonstrate higher levels of comprehension, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills compared to those who receive traditional instruction.

The findings of this research will have practical implications for educational policymakers, curriculum developers, and teachers in Ebonyi State and beyond. If project-based instructional packages are found to be effective, they could be integrated into the existing curriculum to enhance teaching and learning outcomes in Economics.

Ultimately, this study aims to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on instructional strategies and their impact on students' academic achievement. By focusing specifically on Economics education in Ebonyi State, Nigeria, the research intends to provide contextually relevant insights that can inform educational practices and contribute to the improvement of overall educational quality in the region.
