THE BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION OF THE UTILIZATION OF ONLINE PLATFORMS FOR EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT IN KOGI STATE UNIVERSITY

ABSTRACT 

This research project aims to investigate the perception of business education students regarding the utilization of online platforms for educational assessment in Kogi State University. With the rapid advancement of technology, online platforms have emerged as effective tools for conducting educational assessments, offering various benefits such as convenience, flexibility, and immediate feedback. Understanding students’ perceptions of online assessment platforms can provide valuable insights into their acceptance, effectiveness, and potential areas for improvement in the context of business education.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, combining surveys, interviews, and data analysis to gather information from business education students in Kogi State University. The research objectives include examining students’ perception of the utilization of online platforms for educational assessment, exploring the benefits and challenges associated with their use, identifying factors influencing students’ acceptance and satisfaction, and suggesting strategies for optimizing their implementation.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into business education students’ perception of the utilization of online platforms for educational assessment. The research will assess students’ perception of the effectiveness and reliability of online assessment platforms in evaluating their knowledge, skills, and competencies in business education. It will explore the perceived benefits, such as ease of access, flexibility in time management, and immediate feedback. The study will also investigate the challenges faced by students when utilizing online platforms, including technical issues, concerns about assessment security, and potential biases. Additionally, the research will identify the factors influencing students’ acceptance and satisfaction, such as their prior experience with online learning, technological proficiency, and perceptions of fairness in assessment. It will suggest strategies for optimizing the implementation of online platforms for educational assessment, including training programs for students, faculty support, infrastructure development, and assessment design considerations.

The implications of this research extend to business education students, faculty members, educational institutions, and policymakers. The findings will provide business education students with insights into the benefits and challenges of utilizing online platforms for educational assessment, enabling them to adapt their learning strategies accordingly. Faculty members can benefit from the research outcomes by understanding students’ perceptions and incorporating effective online assessment practices into their teaching methodologies. Educational institutions can utilize the research findings to inform decisions regarding the adoption and integration of online platforms for educational assessment, including resource allocation and infrastructure development. Policymakers can consider the research outcomes when formulating educational policies and guidelines to promote the effective utilization of online assessment platforms in business education.
