THE CHALLENGES OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN BUSINESS EDUCATION PROGRAMME IN UNIVERSITIES IN DELTA STATE

ABSTRACT 

This research project aims to investigate the challenges associated with the integration of new technologies in business education programs in universities in Delta State, Nigeria. The rapid advancement and adoption of new technologies have the potential to transform teaching and learning in higher education. However, implementing and effectively utilizing these technologies in business education programs can pose various challenges. Understanding these challenges is crucial for identifying strategies to overcome them and maximize the benefits of technology integration in business education.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, combining surveys, interviews, and quantitative analysis of data to collect information from business education faculty members, students, administrators, and relevant stakeholders in universities in Delta State. The research objectives include identifying the current utilization of new technologies in business education programs, exploring the challenges faced by faculty members and students in integrating and using new technologies, examining the factors that contribute to these challenges, and suggesting strategies for addressing the identified challenges and enhancing the effective utilization of new technologies.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the challenges associated with the integration of new technologies in business education programs in universities in Delta State. The research will identify the current utilization of new technologies, considering factors such as the types of technologies used, availability of infrastructure, and level of technology integration into the curriculum. It will explore the challenges faced by faculty members and students in integrating and using new technologies, such as technical issues, lack of training and support, resistance to change, and pedagogical concerns. The study will also examine the factors that contribute to these challenges, including institutional policies, resource constraints, and cultural factors. Additionally, the research will suggest strategies for addressing the identified challenges and enhancing the effective utilization of new technologies, such as professional development programs for faculty members, investment in technological infrastructure, curriculum alignment, and student support initiatives.

The implications of this research extend to business education faculty members, students, administrators, policymakers, and stakeholders in universities in Delta State. The findings will provide faculty members with insights into the challenges associated with integrating and using new technologies in business education and guide them in adopting effective strategies to overcome these challenges. Students can benefit from the research outcomes by understanding the barriers to technology integration and advocating for improved access, training, and support. Administrators can utilize the research findings to inform resource allocation, policy decisions, and institutional support structures that facilitate technology integration.
