INFLUENCE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN ENHANCING BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS’ SELF-REGULATED LEARNING STRATEGIES FOR ACQUISITION OF EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS

Abstract:
The integration of digital technologies in education has revolutionized the way students acquire knowledge and develop essential skills for the modern job market. This study examines the influence of digital technologies on enhancing self-regulated learning strategies among business education students, specifically focusing on the acquisition of employability skills.

Employability skills encompass a broad range of competencies, including critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and adaptability, which are highly valued by employers. The rapid advancements in digital technologies have provided students with new tools and resources to engage in self-directed learning, enabling them to develop and enhance these employability skills.

This research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with business education students. The quantitative phase involves administering a survey to a sample of students to assess the frequency and effectiveness of their use of digital technologies for self-regulated learning. The qualitative phase includes in-depth interviews with selected students to explore their experiences, perceptions, and challenges related to utilizing digital technologies in acquiring employability skills.

Preliminary findings indicate that digital technologies have a positive impact on students’ self-regulated learning strategies for employability skill acquisition. The availability of online learning platforms, educational apps, virtual collaboration tools, and interactive resources facilitates personalized learning experiences, allowing students to set goals, monitor their progress, and adapt their learning strategies accordingly. Furthermore, digital technologies enable students to access real-world scenarios, case studies, and simulations, fostering the development of practical skills and promoting experiential learning.

However, challenges related to technology access, technical proficiency, and information overload need to be addressed to maximize the benefits of digital technologies. Additionally, the study identifies the importance of integrating digital literacy and self-regulated learning skills into the business education curriculum to enable students to effectively navigate and leverage digital resources.

The findings of this study have implications for educators, policymakers, and educational institutions in designing and implementing strategies to enhance students’ self-regulated learning strategies using digital technologies. By leveraging the potential of digital technologies, business education students can develop the necessary employability skills to succeed in a rapidly evolving job market.
