Abstract:
This study examines the prevalence and impact of extra-marital behaviors on family instability among married individuals in Akwa Ibom State. Extra-marital behaviors, such as infidelity and emotional affairs, can significantly disrupt the stability and well-being of married couples and their families. The aim of this research is to shed light on the extent of these behaviors and their consequences within the specific context of Akwa Ibom State.
The study utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. A sample of married individuals from various demographic backgrounds will be recruited to participate in the study. The quantitative survey will collect data on participants' socio-demographic characteristics, the occurrence of extra-marital behaviors, and family instability indicators. The qualitative interviews will provide deeper insights into the reasons behind these behaviors and their impact on family dynamics.
The findings of this study will contribute to the existing literature on marital relationships and family stability in Akwa Ibom State. It is expected that the results will highlight the prevalence of extra-marital behaviors and their association with family instability. Additionally, factors such as socio-cultural norms, economic pressures, and gender dynamics may be explored to understand their influence on the occurrence of these behaviors.
The implications of this study may inform policymakers, marriage counselors, and other stakeholders in developing interventions and support systems to address the issue of extra-marital behaviors and promote family stability in Akwa Ibom State. By understanding the underlying factors contributing to these behaviors, efforts can be directed towards strengthening marriages, fostering open communication, and providing resources for couples to navigate challenges and prevent family instability.
