Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the relationship between post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and social adjustment among students of the College of Education Gidanwaya, located in Kaduna State, Nigeria. PTSD is a mental health condition that can develop after a person experiences or witnesses a traumatic event, leading to significant distress and functional impairment. Social adjustment refers to an individual's ability to adapt and integrate into their social environment successfully.

The study will employ a quantitative research approach, utilizing a cross-sectional design. A sample of students from the College of Education Gidanwaya will be selected using a random sampling technique. The participants will be assessed for symptoms of PTSD using a standardized diagnostic tool, such as the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5), and their social adjustment will be assessed using a validated measure, such as the Social Adjustment Scale-Self-Report (SAS-SR).

Data will be analyzed using appropriate statistical methods, including correlation analysis and regression analysis, to determine the relationship between PTSD symptoms and social adjustment. The study will also explore potential moderating factors, such as gender, age, and social support, which might influence the relationship between PTSD and social adjustment.

The findings of this study will contribute to the existing literature on the psychological well-being of college students in Nigeria, specifically focusing on the relationship between PTSD and social adjustment. The results will provide valuable insights into the experiences of students who have been exposed to traumatic events and their subsequent social functioning. The study's implications may inform college institutions and mental health professionals in developing effective interventions and support services to promote the well-being and successful social adjustment of students with PTSD.
