Abstract:
This research investigates the influence of non-formal work-related learning on the quality of service delivery of community development workers in Oyo State. Community development workers play a crucial role in facilitating the growth and progress of local communities by providing essential services and support. Therefore, understanding the factors that impact their service quality is essential for enhancing community development outcomes.
The study utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews, to gather data from community development workers in Oyo State. The research sample consists of a diverse group of participants, including community development workers from various sectors and organizations.
The findings reveal that non-formal work-related learning significantly influences the quality of service delivery of community development workers. Non-formal learning activities, such as on-the-job training, workshops, seminars, and peer learning, equip workers with practical skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for effective service provision. These learning opportunities enable workers to develop a deeper understanding of community needs, enhance their problem-solving abilities, and improve their communication and interpersonal skills.
Furthermore, the study identifies several key factors that contribute to the effectiveness of non-formal work-related learning. These include organizational support, resource allocation, collaboration among workers, and the availability of mentors and supervisors. Additionally, the research highlights the importance of ongoing professional development and the need for a supportive learning culture within community development organizations.
The findings of this research have significant implications for policymakers, practitioners, and organizations involved in community development in Oyo State. To enhance the quality of service delivery, it is vital to invest in non-formal work-related learning opportunities for community development workers. This can be achieved through the provision of adequate resources, structured training programs, and supportive environments that foster continuous learning and professional growth.
In conclusion, this research establishes a link between non-formal work-related learning and the quality of service delivery of community development workers in Oyo State. By recognizing the importance of ongoing learning and providing the necessary support, stakeholders can improve the effectiveness and impact of community development initiatives, thereby contributing to the overall well-being and development of local communities.
