Abstract:
This abstract provides an overview of a study that aims to assess the role of agricultural development programmes in the implementation of the FADAMA III Project, with a focus on empowering adult users in Edo State, Nigeria. The FADAMA III Project is a government-led initiative aimed at promoting agricultural development and poverty reduction through the provision of support and resources to farmers.
The study adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. Qualitative methods, such as interviews and focus group discussions, will be used to gather insights from adult users of the FADAMA III Project in Edo State. The quantitative component involves administering surveys to a representative sample of adult users to obtain quantitative data on their experiences, challenges, and perceptions of the agricultural development programmes.
The study seeks to achieve several objectives, including: 1) assessing the effectiveness of agricultural development programmes implemented under the FADAMA III Project in empowering adult users in Edo State; 2) identifying the barriers and challenges faced by adult users in accessing and benefiting from the agricultural development programmes; 3) examining the socio-economic impact of the FADAMA III Project on the livelihoods of adult users; and 4) providing recommendations for enhancing the role of agricultural development programmes in empowering adult users in Edo State.
The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing literature on agricultural development programmes and their impact on rural communities. Additionally, the study's recommendations will inform policy and programmatic decisions aimed at improving the effectiveness and inclusiveness of agricultural development initiatives in Edo State and similar contexts.
