APPLICATION OF EXPERIENTIAL TEACHING METHOD AND STUDENTS` ACADEMIC RETENTION IN RIVERS STATE NIGERIA
Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to explore the application of experiential teaching methods and its influence on students' academic retention in Rivers State, Nigeria. Experiential teaching is an innovative approach that encourages active learning through practical, hands-on experiences. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of experiential teaching in enhancing students' academic retention in the Nigerian educational context.
The research methodology involves a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. A sample of students from various secondary schools in Rivers State will be selected to participate in the study. The quantitative data will be collected through pre- and post-intervention assessments to measure the student's academic retention and progress. Additionally, qualitative data will be gathered through interviews with students and teachers to gain insights into their perceptions and experiences with experiential teaching.
The. study hypothesises that the implementation of experiential teaching methods will positively impact students' academic retention in Rivers State. The findings from this research will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on effective teaching strategies and their implications for student learning outcomes. Furthermore, it will provide valuable insights for educators and policymakers who seek to improve the quality of education in Nigeria.
The expected outcomes of this study include identifying the specific benefits of experiential teaching methods in enhancing students' academic retention, exploring the challenges associated with its implementation, and providing practical recommendations for educators and policymakers to integrate experiential teaching into the curriculum effectively.
By examining the application of experiential teaching methods in Rivers State, this study aims to shed light on the potential of this innovative pedagogical approach to improve students' academic retention and overall learning outcomes in the Nigerian educational system.
